WDSOD was established in 2000 in the family lounge room by Kate at age 13.
With only seven students, they put on their first annual End of Year Concert in December the same year at the Moyhu town hall.
Within two years, Kate’s parents had built the first WDSOD Studios on their property 3km from Moyhu, fully equipped with ballet barres, full length mirrors and sprung flooring.

In 2003 Kate completed her VCE and was accepted in to Box Hill Institute’s Diploma of Dance (Teaching and Management). This meant Kate had to move to Melbourne for two years, however still travelled home to Moyhu on weekends to teach at her growing dance school.

In 2005, Kate graduated and opened up her studio full time in Murphy street, Wangaratta offering the children of Wangaratta and District, studio facilities second to none in the region, as well as the most highly qualified teacher.

In April 2011, dreams became a reality when Kate and her husband Tyson opened custom built studios on their property for Wangaratta District Studio of Dance. Featuring the facilities WDSOD has become renowned for, including comfortable waiting area for parents with couches, a plasma screen TV and coffee facilities, ballet barres, full length mirrors and one on a kind flooring system in the studio.

Kate went on to complete her Advanced Diploma of Dance (Teaching & Management) in 2011.

Since then, WDSOD has offered their students a wide variety of opportunities, including workshops, theatre trips, performance and eisteddfods, Mid Year and End of Year Concerts just to name a few.

With a passion for her job, Kate continues to gain valuable knowledge within the industry to continue to further her knowledge for dance and dance teaching, to provide her students with high quality dance education.
